GSM has no future. It will end in the USA in five years, in our country probably later

US operator AT&T has announced that it intends to shut down its entire current GSM network on January 1, 2017 at the latest. For us, however, GSM will probably last according to, although there is a certain change for it.

Today, GSM is still the most natural standard of mobile telephony. And while the modern 3G and new LTE are carrying unbelievable amounts of data through the air, the GSM is still making happy phone calls. There are only a few operators in the world who would make regular calls to their customers via 3G. The reason is simple: the 2G is reliable in terms of telephone.

Only when the frequencies of the radio spectra are free will they have to think about the end of technologically obsolete 2G st furnaces. They will need their radio capacity first for modern LTE and gave nstupnick technology.

American operator AT&T can even make it quite clear when its GSM will end. This will happen no later than January 1, 2017. The operator anticipates that customers will make virtually no number of changes. Currently, only 12 percent of users have their main phone, which does not support 3G or modern. This number will of course decrease in the first few years and the operator will actively offer modern LTE phones. However, switching off GSM also means that the operator will know that customers will make calls via 3G and LTE.

These and the mobile operators are firmly convinced that the early end of the popular standard is definitely not a threat. “Our licenses for 2G Wed will be valid until the end of 2024. The end of 2G Wed will definitely not be reflected in the short term. Konen for 2G depending on the ad factor, for example, getting a different number of terminals for 3G and 4G, voice services in 4G stch, covered 3G and 4G similar to 2G st and according to, “said Mobile Martina Kemrov.

Vodafone thus draws attention to the need to maintain roaming. “The reason is the need to provide a universal communication standard that will be supported by roaming clients. We therefore estimate that we will support the 2G standard at least until 2020. Of course, we will also provide advanced technology at the same time, ”said Albta Houzarov from the operator’s press department about the issue.

Similar voices are also heard from the Czech Television. The O2 operator also explains how the commercial voice services will work when preparing LTE.

First Vodafone and especially Telefnica will have to look forward to the future of their GSM relatively soon. While T-Mobile currently has licenses in 900 and 1 800 MHz and until 2024, Telefnice expires licenses in 2016. Vodafone mob psmagarantovna until 2021.

However, this data does not mean that they will have to terminate their operations on the given frequencies. “According to the Electronic Communications Act (Con. 127 as amended), our company has the option to extend the license under a condition that should provide an independent estimate,” explains Blanka Vokounov of the Telefnica Czech Republic press office.

The first estimate, the deaths T and the operators themselves will ultimately decide the future and life of the GSM st. It is very likely that the operators themselves will want the existing frequencies during the last long-term license for modern technology. After all, for this reason, all those operas filed enough for an invalid license.

So far, these frequencies 900 and 1 800 MHz are designed exclusively for GSM operation. Neutrlennlicenc would mean that opertoi could use frequencies for any technology. Calls for comments on the change of issuing decisions on Telephnik and T-Mobile were published on fru T at 17.4. last year, enough Vodafone2.8.

It is very likely that a breach of license will occur with the current operators. Such a situation is completely in line with the fact that licenses are currently issued for a new (not only) throughout the European Union.

This could force the early concessionaire of some operators to force them to switch to new technologies. At the same time, there may be attempts at so-called refarming, ie rearrangement and streamlining of the radio spectrum.

At the same time, operas often do not have blocks of frequencies located in the connection of the hundreds of spectra; This is obviously for modern needs. These require high spectrum per channel transmitter. Agreeing on refarming is a matter of both the current operators and the series.

In the light of the situation on the Czech market, it is quite clear that GSM will be with them for quite a long time. The oldest nanaem countries (Telefnica and T-Mobile, respectively their predecessors) started GSM operation in 1996 and basically have a maximum of two-thirds of their lives. This is assuming that Vodafone’s estimate until 2020 will apply.

Therefore, it is not surprising that even recently opertoi have invested a lot in GSM modernization. These investments will allow them to save operating costs and at the same time easier to go to a modern st. Therefore, such a march will not be as much armored as such a generation of generations.
